Usually, retirement homes in US consist of suites which provide lodging facilities for single person or for a couple. The retirement homes differ from nursing homes in the level of health care that is offered. The health benefits offered in the nursing homes are more specialized and upgraded. Individual assistance is also provided.

You can stay in the retirement homes on a rental basis like an apartment. In some instances, you can also buy a room in the retirement home for a short term or a long term basis.
